Help Fatima raise money

For participating in 2022 Toronto Women's 8k/5k

My Story…

The journey of Childhood Cancer is always someone else's journey until it isn't and it becomes your story to fight and tell.  I am looking to raise awareness and collect much needed funds for POGO (Pediatric Oncology Group Of Ontario).  My name is Fatima, and God willing I will be walking in memory of my son Zakariya Kalair who bravely fought with everything he had against Osteosarcoma. He was only 18 years of age when he transitioned in August 2020. He is no longer with us but he left behind many lessons of gratitude, patience, faith, loving and living life to the fullest and those lessons we hope to honor and pay forward to continue his legacy. POGO is instrumental in helping families who are going through the biggest test of their lives when they have to watch their child battle Cancer and the effects of treatment. POGO helped my family during the most difficult and painful journey that we had to go through. Zakariya loved being active and staying healthy and I hope to continue his legacy by participating in my second walkathon with Toronto Women's Run Series.  Please donate what you can, share the link and say a prayer for all those who are fighting, those who have passed and those who are left behind.

Description

I’m lacing up in support of the Pediatric Oncology Group of Ontario (POGO) and childhood cancer care.

Funds raised through the Toronto Women’s Run Series will provide financial assistance to families so they can pay for out-of-pocket costs associated with their child’s treatment; support survivors with customized academic and employment counselling when their disease or its treatment has left them with learning challenges; and fund promising research that examines the impact of childhood cancer and its treatment.

As new treatments and technologies continue to increase the rate of survival for childhood cancer, care for these children, their families and survivors is becoming more and more complex.

That’s why POGO is there for them from the start, and for as long as they need us. Whatever it takes to make a difference, and change a life.

Did you know?

  • There are more than 4,000 children and youth battling cancer in Ontario

  • More than 84% of children diagnosed with cancer in Ontario will survive.
