My Story…
Those of you that know me, know that I've always had a passion for running. I am so lucky to be able to share that passion with my daughter, Sawyer. Now I would like to be able to also share with her the understanding of charity and fundraising, and for us there is no better cause than donating to the Alzheimer's Association.
When I was younger, my grandmother passed away from Alzheimer's after a long hard battle with the disease. It was devastating watching her go through that, especially so early on when there was little understanding or treatments available. Even though there has been great progress since her passing, there is still no cure, and there is an estimated 6.2 million Americans living with Alzheimer's today. There was also more than 11 million family members and other unpaid caregivers that provided an estimated 15.3 billion hours of care to people with Alzheimer's in 2020. At a minimum, that's 26.3 million lives affected by this disease every day.
Every little bit is worth it, if it can help families who are struggling through what my mother and I went through with my grandmother. Please consider donating to this worthy cause, and helping to show Sawyer the importance of being a charity runner!
Donate to help Sawyer raise money for 2022 DICK'S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon Weekend’s fundraising campaign.
