Help Bryce raise money

For participating in 2022 DICK'S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon Weekend

My Story…

"24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it. 25 Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. 26 So I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating the air. 27 But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified." 1 Corinthians 9:24-27

A theme the Lord has given me for this year is "Discipline."

Moving to a new city, beginning a marriage, getting a dog, and becoming a missionary in the North Side of Pittsburgh has shown me an overwhelming need to be disciplined, not just in my day-to-day tasks, but spiritually as well.

Serving as a missionary, I'm finding that it is so crucial for me to be disciplined in everything that I do, especially when it comes to serving in God's Kingdom. If I am going to be preaching God's truth to those around me, I myself need to also be submitting to these truths, "lest I be disqualified."

As a symbolic way of showing the work God is doing in me when it comes to my role as a husband and as a spiritual leader, I have decided to dust off the ol' running shoes to participate in Pittsburgh's 5k this May.

On top of this, by running the 5k, I have the opportunity to raise money for the Urban Impact Foundation, the organization for which I am employed. After serving in the North Side with Urban Impact for the last few months, I have had the joy and privilege to see North Side students come to know Christ.

By seeing the ways my coworkers serve and equip over 2,000 students through education, athletics, performing arts, and post-high school options, I am continually overjoyed by the privilege it is to not only serve with Urban Impact, but to serve a God who so faithfully and holistically loves and cares for our local families in the North Side.

As workers within the Kingdom of God, we do not run aimlessly, but with purpose and discipline, that we may one day win our eternal prize--that others may join us in this spiritual race.

So I'm choosing to run, not aimlessly, but rather with purpose and discipline to honor the work God is doing in me and in the North Side of Pittsburgh through Urban Impact.
