I Run to Cure CF!
After nearly a five year hiatus (well, because life) I am back in my running shoes, running for Ryan and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Ryan was the baby up the street. I started watching Ryan over sixteen years ago when he was a few months old, shortly after his CF diagnosis. Now he doesn’t need me (only when he is in trouble); but I’ve remained close with him, his mom and his brother. They’re my family, and I’m so happy to have them in my life. I am great full to the CF Foundation and their advancements in treatments for having a healthy Ryan in my life, which is why I am back with my teammates “Don’t call it a comeback” to run the 2022 Pittsburgh Marathon Relay for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
If you’re able to donate any amount I greatly appreciate it. It’s full circle, I have a now child and Ryan is the same age I was when I started watching him. I would like Ryan to someday be the same age I am as I am writing this, so any donation will help to continue medical advancements to make this possible.
Description
Cystic fibrosis is a rare, genetic disease found in about 30,000 people in the U.S. causing persistent lung infections and limiting the ability to breath over time. Those living with this disease are moms, dads, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, friends, and co-workers --all struggling each day just to breathe and live normal, healthy lives.
While there has been significant progress in treating this disease, there is still no cure and too many lives are cut far too short. By participating in the Pittsburgh Marathon on behalf of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, I run to help add tomorrows to the lives of all people living with cystic fibrosis today.
