I Run to Cure CF!
Hello,
My name is Timothy Boring, and I run for a reason. 5 years ago, I decided to start getting into different styled running events. When I signed up for my first ever half marathon, I discovered you could run for a charity of your choice. I was even more joyed, when I found that the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation was one of those charity options. I have always been somewhat athletic, but never really knew of a way to put that towards something with purpose. This was my opportunity to give back and make a difference for those afflicted by Cystic Fibrosis, which also runs in my family.
I have four total brothers, two of which, have Cystic Fibrosis. Growing up, I was taught how serious this genetic disease was and that when my brothers were born, the life expectancy was still around the early 30's. I want to be a part of the progress that can help find a cure for this disease, especially as my brother Gaven turns 30 this February. Over the last few years, we have seen a lot of improvement in medicine and therapy's that have helped my brothers.
For the longest time, my brother Owen was consistently in and out of the hospital. His CF was destroying not only his body, but his life as well. Due to being in and out of the hospital, he switched from college to college, never being able to finish a degree. With the help of new medicine, Owen has begun to have an amazing turn around and has not been back in the hospital for the last two years. I want to continue to be able to see my brothers grow old, and have healthy, happy lives.
Thank you to everyone who takes the time to donate, I appreciate you all.
Tim
Description
Cystic fibrosis is a rare, genetic disease found in about 30,000 people in the U.S. causing persistent lung infections and limiting the ability to breath over time. Those living with this disease are moms, dads, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, friends, and co-workers --all struggling each day just to breathe and live normal, healthy lives.
While there has been significant progress in treating this disease, there is still no cure and too many lives are cut far too short. By participating in the Pittsburgh Marathon on behalf of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, I run to help add tomorrows to the lives of all people living with cystic fibrosis today. Please make a difference and support me by donating to my fundraising campaign today!
