My Story…
Hi everyone!
My name is Kartik Kannan, and I am running this year's Pittsburgh Marathon to help fundraise for the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation! As a pre-medical student at the University of Pittsburgh looking to work in pediatrics in the future, the mission of the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation is close to my heart. I hope to use this opportunity to help the Children's Hospital continue to provide fantastic care for children, teenagers, and young adults in the Pittsburgh area!
Any and all donations are greatly appreciated and will go a long way towards helping the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation. As an added incentive, I will be running a mile for every dollar donated (up to the $500 goal).
As marathon weekend approaches, I look forward to achieving my twin goals of qualifying for the Boston Marathon and, more importantly, helping children in the Pittsburgh area receive the best quality of treatment possible. Thank you for your support!

As part of Team Children's, my participation in the 2022 Pittsburgh Marathon supports UPMC Children's Hospital Foundation.
Funds support the patients and families served by UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. Last year UPMC Children's Hospital had over 1 million patient visits and many of the programs, initiatives, and resources that make UPMC Children’s so special are funded by philanthropic gifts. Things like distraction therapy which provides patients something else to focus on during their medical procedures, the Child Life Department which provides many activities to create a sense of normalcy for hospitalized children, and the Free Care Fund which covers the cost of medical care for those that cannot afford it. These areas are not covered by insurance, yet are critically important to helping families face the many challenges that accompany a child’s treatment.
