My Story…
Hi there!
Thanks for visiting my page. In September 2021, I lost the only man that called me "Princess" every time I picked up the phone, my grandfather. In less than a week from his phone calling informing us he felt sick, he died due to the COVID-19 virus. While my grandfather called us with this nasty cough that we suspected to be COVID-19, when we told him to go to the hospital, he was more concerned about which hospital to go to because he needed his knee replaced. We told him multiple times how his knee was not why he was going but rather he was sick. My grandfather struggled with his progressing Alzheimer's. His conversations the past year would circle back around to the first topic we started with every time. A progression no one wants to see and in some way, his quick death due to COVID-19 was a blessing, as he would remember our family before his passing. More than 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's. The disease is not slowing down anytime soon and with no clear cure on the market, research funding is imperative. As I get ready to run the Pittsburgh Half Marathon, I will be running for my grandfather in the city that he loved. Please consider making a donation and let's tackle not only the hills of the Burgh, but the daunting research needed for Alzheimer's.
