Help George raise money

For participating in 2022 DICK'S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon Weekend

My Story…

Hello, happy post-marathon recovery week.  The marathon was fun but quite a challenge - lol.  The most difficult marathon I've run for sure.  I ended up with a 3:58 which I'm satisfied with.  I was hoping for something in the 3:40s but perhaps a bit unrealistic and perhaps I went out too fast.  Thank you so much to the American Cancer Society cheer groups out there.  So nice to see smiling faces when you're struggling out there.  :-).

I was a late add to ACS this year not knowing what combination of marathons and which charities I will be running for.   I'd like to help ACS get to their goal of $60k for Pittsburgh and I know they are damn close.   They do an amazing job managing this whole process.   Thank Emma and Ramon and Paul for this.

Personally, I'm excited by any contribution whether it's $2.22 or a lot more.

Cancer has taken too many people from all of us, way too soon.  In my family I run for my Aunt Louise (brain & lung cancer), my step-dad Tom Campeau (pancreatic cancer), and way too many friends and family that are battling or have had to fight less aggressive cancer diagnosis.

I am planning a fund raising campaign for ALS very soon and I'm a late marathon add so this campaign will be short and sweet with your help!  Every $ is appreciated by the ACS and me.  It's been an interesting running journey over the last decade but I've certainly gotten a bit faster and feel good about the race Sunday!   Thanks for listening and donating!  Very appreciated!

p.s. I would love to send thank you the old fashioned way via a card and mail if you send me your address.

the photo below was taken by Amy Nelson who was running runners from North Park trail Runners up the brutal hill from the Birmingham bridge to Oakland.  Really, this hill puts the world famous heart break hill in Boston to shame.  It's the most challenging uphill I've raced on road marathons.

Why I Am Participating in the Pittsburgh Marathon Weekend to Support the American Cancer Society

For the first time in history, the American Cancer Society's mission is at risk - including their ability to fund cancer research. The American Cancer Society needs to be here to help patients face cancer with comprehensive support, but they need our help to be able to do so. Every dollar will truly make a difference right now.

Taking part in this event gives me the chance to make a difference and honor those touched by cancer by raising funds for groundbreaking research and services for people dealing with cancer. I'm also participating to inspire hope for those facing the disease and raising money for the American Cancer Society's event to help save lives from cancer.  I hope you'll consider signing up too.

Funds raised support cancer patient programs and groundbreaking research that can help save lives. This event also celebrates over 15.5 million cancer survivors nationwide. 15.5 MILLION. That's huge. That's why I'd love your support. Will you join me? And if you can't would you be so kind as to make a donation?
