My Story…
Running has been a critical tool for Jessica’s healing journey over the last year and a half. In the fall of 2020, her father passed away suddenly from a heart attack. She was devastated and found healing powers in movement and running. The following spring, she completed the Lumberjack+ 50K and added a 20km bike for a total day’s mileage of 70km. This was completed on May 31, which would have been her dad’s 70th birthday. This year, Jessica hopes to complete 71km on foot over Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend (the Lumberjack Challenge plus 11.8KM) in memory of her dad’s 71st birthday. Last year, her run raised over $2,200 for the Ottawa Heart Institute, and she will be seeking sponsorship from friends and family again this year.
