Hello family and friends.
I am the team captain of MEMC Crew. We're raising money for pancreatic cancer research at The Ottawa Hospital - while training for Ottawa Race Weekend on May 28 and 29, 2022. I will be running in the half marathon.
As I'm sure you all know, I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer (adenocarcinoma) on Jan 2, 2013. I was very fortunate to remain disease free for 8 1/2 years!
My luck ran out, and in September 2021 I had a metastasis (from my original pancreatic cancer) to my lung, surgery to remove it, and 3 rounds of Folfirinox chemotherapy in December/January (had to stop due to severe adverse side effects) as a preventive measure to stop any more metastases.
Now, more than ever, I love life and live each day with gratitude. We are fundraising to find better treatments for pancreatic cancer, to give more people hope of surviving this horrible cancer.
