My story
No one should face cancer alone.
These words sum up the Gilda’s Club Twin Cities’ philosophy. After my diagnosis in 2019, our whole family found support at Gilda’s Club. The support I have received, and continue to receive, has made such an impact on my ability to face cancer. And I have found wonderful friends and so much laughter along the way.
Gilda’s Club provides free social and emotional support for everyone currently impacted by cancer - not just patients, but also their parents, children, caregivers, and other loved ones. Not just the things you might expect - support groups, educational seminars - but unexpected offerings, like a comedic improv group, family nights with dinner in the clubhouse kitchen and fun activities for the kids, birdwatching, a knitting group … and so much more.
One of the core principles of GCTC is “At Gilda’s Club, people learn to live fully with cancer, whatever the outcome.” That perfectly sums up what I have learned at Gilda’s, and I would wish that gift to anyone going through cancer. Please consider making a donation to support GCTC so that their life-changing programming can remain free for everyone impacted by cancer.
