I have been a pediatric oncologist at the McMaster Children's Hospital since 2013, but have been involved in the world of childhood cancer since I was a camp counsellor at Camp Trillium in 2000. Since then, I've held many roles with what is now Campfire Circle; I've been a volunteer oncologist at Camp Ooch, sat on the Board of Directors for Trillium and currently am on the Medical Advisory Board for Campfire Circle. Through my work at Mac, I get to see the demands that a cancer journey places on a family facing childhood cancer, but I also get to see the joys that cancer camp - in all its facets - gives back.
Beyond my daily work, I have been highly involved in fundraising for childhood cancer through cycling - culminating in a cross-Canada bike ride in 2019. I am excited to get back to fundraising through physical activities, in this, my first run!

Simple childhood joys like friendships, birthday parties, or sports teams being left behind in the need for medical appointments, hospital stays, and long absences from school.
Whether it’s in a hospital setting, in the community, online or at overnight camp, CAMPFIRE CIRCLE* fills the void, creating safe spaces for kids to be kids, so families can be families, at no cost to them.
It’s where curiosity and confidence, bravery and acceptance come to play, and healing through happiness is on the agenda, every day, and in every way! Kids and families are never alone, because there’s always room for one more in the circle.
