Help Scott raise money

For participating in 2022 Sporting Life 10K

My Story

Benjamin is 4.  Earlier this year, after a random school accident led to a biopsy, he and his family found out Ben has a very rare disease Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis.  Based on what he's been through the past few months- he'll forever be known as BENJAMIN THE BRAVE.

I've only met him once but hes inspired me to get my running shoes out after a 5 year hiatus and to run and raise money for Camp Ooch & Camp Fire Circle- benefiting other kids who have Cancer.

Benjamin was born a few weeks apart from my first son, Ziggy. I worked with his mom, Kaitlin, at my last agency and outside of keeping up with one another on Instagram- had lost touch despite living in the same neighbourhood and having kids around the same age.

When my former colleagues read about the news- we wanted to do something to support Kait, her husband David and of course Benjamin and his sister.

We decided to run and create Team Benjamin The Brave and to raise funds for all the brave kids out there battling cancer.  My goal is to finish, not get hurt, raise over $2500 and continue my own journey to be a healthy dad for my own kids and family.

There are a lot of needs in the world, and I know you get a lot of requests.  If this is something you can help support, I greatly appreciate it.

Benjamin you're brave little smile has inspired me and countless others, keep going.  Along with the rest of our team, we'll see you in a few weeks and we'll all be wearing your cape!

Big Love,

Scotty O

Description

Childhood cancer changes lives. So does camp. And so can you.

A diagnosis of childhood cancer changes life in an instant. For kids and families, it can suddenly feel like everything is about cancer. Simple childhood joys like friendships, birthday parties, or sports teams being left behind in the need for medical appointments, hospital stays, and long absences from school.

Whether it’s in a hospital setting, in the community, online or at overnight camp, CAMPFIRE CIRCLE* fills the void, creating safe spaces for kids to be kids, so families can be families, at no cost to them.

It’s where curiosity and confidence, bravery and acceptance come to play, and healing through happiness is on the agenda, every day, and in every way! Kids and families are never alone, because there’s always room for one more in the circle.

Your support of Sporting Life 10K ensures that CAMPFIRE CIRCLE’S programs continue to reach 1,700 kids and their families every year. Your gift will make life-changing experiences possible.

*Did you know that Camp Ooch & Camp Trillium merged in 2020, and that we have a new name? Announcing … CAMPFIRE CIRCLE! We aren’t changing what we do—we're just changing our name.
