My Story
Severino’s smile will be in our hearts forever. During the most difficult days, Sevi was the one who kept our spirits and hope alive. Smiles like his are what help to fuel the families of children who are battling cancer. Smiles like this offer a glimpse of normalcy. Smiles like this are why I will be running in Severino’s memory and for all kids battling cancer, this Mother’s Day.
Campfire Circle is an organization that runs day and overnight programs for children with cancer. It is the only overnight camp that can administer chemo to its campers. This is a donor funded organization that makes a HUGE difference in children’s lives. My family experienced the “magic” of camp first hand with Sevi.
We are hoping to make a difference for other children who are fighting just as he did.

A diagnosis of childhood cancer changes life in an instant. For kids and families, it can suddenly feel like everything is about cancer. Simple childhood joys like friendships, birthday parties, or sports teams being left behind in the need for medical appointments, hospital stays, and long absences from school.
Whether it’s in a hospital setting, in the community, online or at overnight camp, CAMPFIRE CIRCLE* fills the void, creating safe spaces for kids to be kids, so families can be families, at no cost to them.
It’s where curiosity and confidence, bravery and acceptance come to play, and healing through happiness is on the agenda, every day, and in every way! Kids and families are never alone, because there’s always room for one more in the circle.
