My Story
Her hair has grown back, she’s gained weight, she has loads of energy, and she’s thriving in every way a six year old should!!! My sweet niece, Scarlett, is the BRAVEST kid I know! She has gone through and fought through cancer treatments that would bring (the strongest) grown men and women to their knees and now we’re gonna strut our stuff with her to show her how VERY VERY proud we are of her unbelievable and unforgettable bravery! We’re raising money for all the little kiddos who deserve a break while fighting their tough battles by walking/strutting 10kms. Please, if you feel inclined and have anything to give, help me in supporting all the kids who need joy in their life when they’re struggling the most. I have personally witnessed the smiles and joy that being part of the CAMPFIRE CIRCLE program, has brought for my sweet, brave Scarlett. It’s a beautiful distraction from having to think or worry about all the other, REALLY yucky things that come with childhood cancer and how it’s treated. If giving monetarily is not possible for you at this time, feel no pressure and know that I’ve likely already felt incredibly supported by you, in some way, already! This is for Scarlett! A diagnosis of childhood cancer changes life in an instant. For kids and families, it can suddenly feel like everything is about cancer. Simple childhood joys like friendships, birthday parties, or sports teams being left behind in the need for medical appointments, hospital stays, and long absences from school.
Whether it’s in a hospital setting, in the community, online or at overnight camp, CAMPFIRE CIRCLE* fills the void, creating safe spaces for kids to be kids, so families can be families, at no cost to them.
It’s where curiosity and confidence, bravery and acceptance come to play, and healing through happiness is on the agenda, every day, and in every way! Kids and families are never alone, because there’s always room for one more in the circle.
