Help Emma raise money

For participating in Calgary Marathon 2022

My Story…

The photo is of our three rescue kitties shortly after we adopted them, at only 4 -5 months old! Before we welcomed them into their forever home, they benefited so much from local rescue groups. Firefly was found on the streets in Massachusetts. Harvey and Walter in Florida – shortly after which they were evacuated by plane to Boston when a hurricane hit. All three had foster homes to give them crucial early socialization and care. All three were spayed/neutered and fully vaccinated. The result was that they were healthy, confident, happy kitties when we met them, who had zero trouble adjusting and taking over our home <3 Local rescues do SO. MUCH. WORK. on the frontlines of saving animals and getting them to the loving homes they deserve. Many animals need costly veterinary care and long-term behavioural work far above what our cats received as kittens. The pandemic has only increased the strain on local rescues, and they rely on kind donations to keep doing what they do.

I’m running the Calgary Half Marathon (and shortly after, the Banff Marathon!) and had to take the chance to bag a few $$ for one of my local cat rescues – the MEOW Foundation. Cats REALLY don’t want to be on the streets in Calgary. We have coyotes, bobcats, massive trucks, and shocking cold. They rely on rescues like the MEOW Foundation to have the chance of a better, loving life. And to not be born into such a harsh environment in the first place. Thank you for anything you can give, and for standing up for animals who can’t stand up for themselves <3

$10 buys a vaccine

$24 covers two microchips

$60 neuters one cat

$100 is the approximate price of a case of veterinary diet food*

$600 pays for a dental surgery

*This one I added myself, based on the food Walter needs to manage his IBD. The rest are calculated from numbers provided on the MEOW Foundation website.

From the MEOW Foundation official team page:

"Support our fundraising team and help Calgary's homeless cats! MEOW Foundation is a specialized cat-focused registered charity and humane society with a no-kill mandate. We rescue and facilitate the adoption of stray and abandoned cats into new, loving permanent homes, working hard to ensure that each MEOW cat is matched with the best possible home based on his or her personality, history, habits and individual needs.

MEOW Foundation also offers a subsidized Spay Neuter Assistance Program (SNAP), Cat Food Assistance Program and Trap Neuter Return (TNR) Program for cats living in the Calgary community."
