For too many young people, youth is a time of relentless uncertainty, anxiety, and trepidation. This is amplified for vulnerable youth who more than anything need a nurturing, stable, and safe environment where they can unlock their unique gifts and talents and develop the self-confidence and relationship skills that will serve them throughout their lives. 

Yet many don’t find that stability or safety either at home or at school. An education system designed for the majority sometimes leaves the vulnerable behind.

This is where Take A Hike works….

We integrate into young people’s learning environment the clinical therapy supports so critical to their mental health and well-being. We meet them where they are, supporting them to develop and grow, and learning alongside them, constantly evolving the support we offer to best meet the needs of each youth.

We help youth find their way by immersing them in the classroom of the natural world. Time in nature has a profound restorative, connective and transformative power that serves as the foundation to programming tailored to each individual, their distinct experiences and innate talents.

Students walk alongside their peers, solving problems together, while connecting across diversity of perspective, culture, background, and experience. They learn self-empowerment and positive coping mechanisms, making them part of a system of life—skills that deliver the invaluable capacity for resilience that we all need to navigate volatility and turbulence in our lives.

We emphasize their strengths and talents, supporting them to stretch their minds, as they open their hearts and transform their lives.
