Help Trina raise money

For participating in 2022 Vancouver Half Marathon

My Story…

Join me to help raise money for WAVAW Rape Crisis Centre! An organization very near and dear to my heart.

Over the past couple of years, we were unable to participate in the charity race, but this year we are back!

This will be my 8th year running/walking for WAVAW and I would love your support.

As the Board Chair, I am honoured to witness the commitment and dedication the staff, volunteers and board, have towards ending violence and supporting survivors. Your contribution will make an impact, whether you donate a lot or a little. Anything helps. Thank you so much for your support!

I've included information about WAVAW Rape Crisis Centre below and am also happy to answer any questions you may have.

WAVAW is the only organization in the Lower Mainland to offer specialized, gender-affirming support services to all trans, non-binary, and Two-Spirit survivors of sexualized violence.

WAVAW knows that sex work is work and trans women are women and passionately advocates for the rights of these communities.

WAVAW offers immediate crisis support through their national 24-hour crisis and information line and hospital accompaniments.

WAVAW works to end sexualized violence by doing educational outreach that addresses the root causes of violence with high schools, universities, and public and private organizations.

WAVAW has a team of compassionate and skilled Victim Services Workers who go to the hospital with survivors immediately following a sexual assault. These staffs offer emotional support, advocacy, and resources so that the survivor is not alone during one of the most challenging times in their lives.

WAVAW supports survivors that wish to report their assaults with accompaniments to police visits and court dates.

WAVAW supports Indigenous survivors through culturally-informed, Elder supported one-to-one and group counselling.

WAVAW offers free-of-charge one-to-one and group counselling to survivors of sexualized violence. There is such a demand for this that we currently have 300 people on our waitlist for counselling. The average person waits two years to receive one-to-one counselling services at WAVAW.
