My Story…
Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) and other rheumatic diseases can significantly affect the lives of kids and youth. Among many symptoms, rheumatic diseases cause pain, stiffness, and inflammation in joints and organs, often impacting kids' and youth’s ability to participate in life to the fullest. And get this - there is no known cure! I am running and fundraising for Cassie + Friends to help change that. No more pain, no more stiffness, no more inflammation.
I have Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis and, therefore, understand its effect on everyday life. From struggling to take the cap off the toothpaste bottle to constantly dropping my books in the hallway, I have experienced many of the frustrations that Juvenile Arthritis can bring. Yet, despite the frustrations, JIA has given me a resilience and perspective on the world that some people do not gain until later in life – A weaker body has led me to be stronger in other areas.
Please help me raise awareness and funds for Cassie + Friends so that future kids with JIA can just be kids!

This year, I will be running in support of kids and families affected by juvenile arthritis (JA) and other rheumatic diseases with Cassie + Friends Society. Cassie + Friends is a national charity focused 100% on kids and families impacted by juvenile arthritis and other rheumatic diseases. Cassie + Friends provides much needed education, awareness, support programs, advocacy and research to families across Canada.
What is JA?
JA is an incurable autoimmune disease in kids that attacks healthy joints and steals childhoods. It’s just as common as Juvenile Diabetes (every 3 in 1000 kids) and yet receives a fraction of the research, awareness and support. Kids with JA live with pain, fatigue and fevers, and many require aggressive medications like chemotherapy.
In 2022, Cassie + Friends is raising money for:
- Providing parents with access to a private Online Support Network
- Supporting families with emergency funds and medical equipment
- Helping fund Monthly Expert-Led educational webinars
- Connecting youth with trained peer mentors
- Fueling critical Advocacy + research into safer Treatments and a cure.
