Help Shannon raise money

For participating in The 2022 ASICS Falmouth Road Race

My Story…

Hey all! Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. My name is Shannon Simmons and this year I will have the privilege of running the Boston Marathon on April 18th & Falmouth Road Race on August 21st for the Jett Foundation. For those that don’t know, the Jett Foundation is dedicated to research for Duchenne’s Muscular Dystrophy, as well as enriching the lives of people with Duchenne and their families.

I’m honored to represent the Jett Foundation this year in these two races and will be racing for my “cousin” Cal. Cal may not be family by blood, but I’ve grown up going to Vermont every weekend of every winter with him and his family since I was born. Cal, and the whole Rumi Klub Ski Klub, are undoubtedly my family. In the time I’ve know him (his entire life) I’ve watched him fight some of the toughest aspects of the this neuromuscular disease with absolute grace. The way him and all of the Quitzau’s fight the trials of Duchenne is admirable and they have been an inspiration to me my entire life.

For those that do not know, in brief summary, Duchenne  "is a progressive neuromuscular disorder that causes a loss of motor, pulmonary, and cardiac function", but I encourage you to learn more about the disease as awareness is vital.

Any donation is greatly appreciated and goes directly to helping families with a Duchenne. It will fund drug trails, help families pay for motorized wheelchairs, ramps, and other necessities, and so so much more.

The photo in my profile is of my badass Mom and badass “aunts” running triathlons to raise awareness and money to fight Duchenne. I am honored to follow in their footsteps and continue that fight.

I registered for the Boston Marathon independently as the Jett Foundation does not officially have a team in the race this year. I will be running both races in hopes to raise money and awareness for Duchenne. Please consider donating via this page - my Falmouth Road Race fundraising page - where all funds go directly to the Jett foundation

Description

Thank you for supporting me in the 50th Falmouth Road Race, where I will be raising funds for Jett Foundation.

Jett Foundation extends and enriches the lives of individuals affected by Duchenne muscular dystrophy and other neuromuscular disorders.

They fulfill this mission by partnering with individuals and families through empowering educational programming, transformational direct service experiences, and by accelerating development of life-changing treatments.
Go! for Duchenne events, such as the Falmouth Road Race, encourage families and friends to activate their muscles in support of Jett Foundation and the work we do to provide enriching programs for individuals and families impacted by neuromuscular disorders.

Help me reach my goal of $1,000 by race day--Sunday, August 21 2022!
