Help me reach my fundraising goal!

I am once again running for Family Reach. This time it's the 50th running of the Falmouth Road Race! Anything and everything goes towards my goal and, most importantly, to an amazing non-profit that holds a special place in my heart.

Family Reach is a national foundation dedicated to alleviating the financial burden of cancer. I stumbled upon their mission shortly after my niece, Nora, was diagnosed with B Cell acute lymphocytic leukemia last year. My brother and sister-in-law traveled 2 hours each way to and from St. Louis so Nora could receive treatment. This meant paying for frequent child care for their other four children while managing other everyday expenses. Their challenging journey helped me realize exactly how a cancer diagnosis impacts a family financially.

Being in Boston, I felt like there wasn’t a lot I could do to help them. I started a fundraising campaign to make up for the loss of funds the cancer treatments would soon bring. These funds didn’t go directly to paying for treatments, but rather day-to-day expenses that don’t stop just because of illness. Many people don’t know that cancer cuts household incomes in half as patients and caregivers put careers on hold for treatment. This loss of income forces families to make dangerous decisions - do they pay the mortgage or buy groceries? 

This type of assistance, along with financial planning and education, is how Family Reach helps families get to the other side of cancer. I am grateful to now work at this foundation and am excited to challenge myself as a Reach Athlete in Napa this summer! Your donation directly helps families, like my own, overcome obstacles they face each and every day while their loved one undergoes cancer treatment.
