Help Megan raise money

For participating in The 2022 ASICS Falmouth Road Race

Support the mission to save and heal lives through donation!

The 2022 Falmouth Road Race will be my 9th Falmouth race and my 9th time running as a part of the NEDS team. I am so incredibly excited to run this race for this amazing organization again, but I am also filled with so many other emotions. This year will be my first time back on the course (in person) since the Covid shutdown and since having a baby boy. This will also be the first year I will be running knowing my Dad will not be there on the sidelines cheering me on as he always has.

Come August Raceday it will be just a little over 2 years since I lost my Dad; my best friend, my entire world, and the reason I started running this race. It is a hard pill to swallow knowing that when I look out into the crowds of people cheering the runners on he won't be there for me to run to, to get that last bit of motivation I need to finish the grueling 7miles. . . However, as my Dad always told me 'you can't control the wind, but you can adjust the sails.'  So that is exactly what I am going to do.

I will continue to run this race for as long as I possibly can, to help raise the much needed awareness around organ donation. My dad was a kidney transplant recipient and received the gift of life back in 2007. I am so incredibly thankful AND grateful for the 14 beautiful years we were given with him. There are currently 5,500 patients waiting for an organ transplant in New England alone. Please help to educate yourself on organ donation and consider registering to be an organ donor today.

If you are able, please consider donating to my Falmouth fundraiser. Any little bit helps.  You have the power to save a life.

Finally, I just wanted to thank everyone who has supported me each year it truly means the world to me. Most importantly thank you Daddy for being the amazing man you were. . .my inspiration, my reason why, and my superhero. I know you will be with me as I complete each mile and as I cross the finish line. This race is for you Daddy. Love you BIG, your little girl.

Description

New England Donor Services is the not-for-profit organization serving the region for organ and tissue donation. There are currently 5,500 patients waiting for an organ transplant in New England and countless others will require tissue to heal this year. With approximately half of the population registered donor, it's critical for more people to join the Donor Registry today. Funds are needed to help educate the community about the importance of organ and tissue donation and the need across the community. Give now and show your support!
