Help Angela raise money

For participating in The 2022 ASICS Falmouth Road Race

My Story…

For those that know me, they know that running isn't really my "thing." Yes, I've dabbled in it over the years but I've never gotten that feeling that many runners get--euphoria, accomplishment, whatever they talk about. However, for those that know me, they also know that mentoring IS my "thing!" At the risk of sounding corny, it's true.

I believe that every young person deserves a mentor, no matter who they are or where they live. Every young person needs and deserves that support system from an adult who shows up in their corner and helps them reach their potential. I am proud to say that I have been that person and those experiences do indeed bring me euphoria and accomplishment

I became a Big Sister in 2012 after living in Boston for a couple of years. It was my way of giving back and connecting to my new city. I met a reserved 15 year old with very different background and interests than me. Our relationship had its ups and downs but we both stuck with it and I'm proud to say we remain friends today. My relationship with Kenia sparked my love for mentoring so much so that I pursued a career in it. Working at mentoring and youth development organizations throughout my career has been most fulfilling. I am thrilled to be fundraising for Mass Mentoring Partnership to provide more mentors and support for youth across the Commonwealth.

I'm still a proud mentor both to Kenia and through a program with a former employer. I also now direct the mentoring program at BUILD which is a high school entrepreneurship non profit. I couldn't be prouder to be both personally and professionally supporting mentorship. I guess it'll be worth the 7 miles!

Description

I am #RunningForMentoring with the Mass Mentoring Partnership!

Mass Mentoring Partnership was founded in 1992, and while much has changed over the past three decades, our vision, mission, values and beliefs have never wavered. I'm joining MMP on their Journey to 30 years of impact - please join me on my journey to make a difference in the lives of young people across the Commonwealth through my fundraising efforts!

Mass Mentoring Partnership (MMP), is the only state-wide training, research, and advocacy organization for Massachusetts mentoring and youth serving organizations, committed to ensuring that every young person in the state has access to quality mentoring relationships. We believe that empowering youth-adult relationships are central to the healthy growth and development of young people, enabling them to reach their full potential.

In MMP’s unique role as an intermediary organization, we provide the critical link between national evidence-based research and local programs that promote the quality and quantity of mentoring relationships. As a force multiplier, MMP invests in the support young people need by providing the tools adults require in order to truly show up for youth in a caring and consistent way by bringing research to practice and theory to action.
