My Story…
For the past year, I’ve been working as a clinical research coordinator at MGH for the Lymphedema Research Program in the breast cancer center. I passionately believe in the work we do and so this year, I am running my first ever 10K + 1 extra mile to raise money for our team. Our program is 100% philanthropically funded and we provide free lymphedema screening for all women with breast cancer.
Breast cancer-related lymphedema is a swelling in the arm that can be caused by breast cancer treatment. It can be an incredibly burdensome condition that affects 1 in 5 women treated for breast cancer. We aim to educate and screen women to detect lymphedema as early as possible to maximize the efficacy of treatment. During my time with the program, I’ve had the privilege of serving exceptionally strong women and will forever be grateful to have a small role in their care.
We’ve screened over 6,000 women and hope to continue providing this free service! Any contribution is greatly appreciated!
