My Story…
The reception for my first "classmate wedding" out of HC literally was on the Start line for the Falmouth Road Race back in . . . '81? So it probably was pre-ordained I'd run Falmouth, and once I did, I fell in love with everything about it. The course, which I call "the Pebble Beach of road races," where from the one-mile mark at Nobska Lighthouse hill you can see the gigantic American flag hanging over the finish line at Falmouth Heights six miles of shoreline away. The scene afterward at the ballfield, across the street from the beach, where everybody mills around, re-hydrating and nourishing on boiled hot dogs. And the fact that where else can I get cheered for seven miles while being carried along by faces, sights, and sounds?
This year I get to run the race for more than me, with all money I raise going to Dogs For Better Lives, which this year opened a campus in East Falmouth. Am honored they accepted me as part of this year's running team, and I hope to honor their work -- and the dogs that provide such wonderful service! -- with a strong effort.
