My Story…
As most of you know, on Febuary 3rd, 2002 I lost my beautiful son, Tyler K unexpectedly. It wasnt until months later that we learned Tyler had Cardiomyopathy, a disease of an enlarged heart. Since then, my other children, Jordyn and Jadon see a cardiologist regularly. I have made it a personal goal of mine to educate others of the importance of EKG's and routine monitoring - it can save a childs life. While I cannot bring my child back, I can only hope that my message will inspire others so that he did not die in vain. In 2015, I discovered the Middlemiss family through a news segment. They had lost a son, Joe, from Cardiomyopathy also and had another son, Jack, who after being diagnosed as well, was awaiting a heart transplant at only two and a half. Since then, jack, the amazing heart warrior, has recieved a new heart (thanks to an amazing donor) and is doing very well. Kate and Scott Middlemiss are two of the kindest and most inspiring people and though our paths crossed in an odd way, I am beyond grateful they did. It even turns out that Jack and Jordyn share a birthday- August 21st, which happens to be the date of the Falmouth Road Race this year. That being said, though I have little experience with running, I have made the decision to run the race this year as a member of Team Big Heart and in memory of my son. Thank you all for your continued support. 💜💚
