My Story…
So my personal connection with stroke/heart disease is that both my grandparents had suffered this with this disease. my Nana had a mild heart attack and then had to have a few valve replacements and my grandfather had one major heart attack and two defibrillator replacements. These defibrillators kept him in our lives for as long as It could. My Nana ended up passing away in September 2008 and then five years later my grandfather passed. My grandparents were role models not only for their 11 children but also their 25 grandchildren. As grandparents they showed us the love and support and what family is all about, but this year a stroke in our family happened my uncle's mother Grace Valeri a.k.a. Grammy recently suffered a stroke. Grammy has been around our family since the day I was born when both my grandparents passed and she became our Grammy. Grammy started to notice that she couldn’t see and her vision started to get blurry and she called 911 and told them that she was having trouble seeing. That day it so happened that my brother, an EFD fireman, was on that day and he took the call to Grammys house, when he got there she was a little foggy but they knew the warning signs and headed over to Mass General as quick as possible. At Mass general it was confirmed that Graham had a stroke and that she would have to go to rehab and if they feel that they could get her vision back Graham is currently at Spaulding rehab where they are working on getting her vision back but luckily Graham knew the signs of a stroke and she called 911 so this year I run for Grammy
