My Story…
I have such fond childhood memories vacationing in Falmouth, Cape Cod with family and friends. And, every August, as a track/cross-country runner, I enjoyed watching my favorite elite athletes compete in the 7-mile Falmouth Road Race. In the back of my mind, I always hoped one year to make it to the starting line.
In just a few short days - on August 21st, on the 50th anniversary of this iconic seaside race - I am excited to be finally lacing up!
I know this race won't be easy; in fact, it will be my longest race in almost a decade. But what inspires me is that I'm running it on behalf of Next Step, a non-profit organization that provides free programs to seriously-ill young adults with cancer, sickle cell, HIV, and other rare diseases. Having these diseases shouldn't mean limiting or abandoning your goals and dreams; Next Step helps these young people more easily and confidently navigate their transition to adulthood by providing various essential programs and resources.
As these young adults put one foot in front of the other, I'm honored to do the same. For the next month, I'll be training hard and fundraising on their behalf. Kindly consider a donation of any amount, and please know how much they, and I, appreciate your support.

Description
Next Step empowers teens and young adults living with with life-threatening diseases to successfully transition from childhood to adulthood and into an adult healthcare system, creating their brightest future. This is done by providing extensive support and teaching essential life skills to help our participants to effectively manage their illness, maintain optimum emotional health, and succeed in their professional career. To accomplish these goals, the Next Step programs address the physical, emotional and developmental issues unique to these young adults through our community, music, and mentorship program and moving our young people closer to, "I believe in me."
