I am lucky enough to participate in the Falmouth Road Race for the third time this year, raising money on behalf of the Brain Injury Association of Massachusetts!

I run for those who have suffered a brain injury, and for the supporters of those survivors. This cause is personal to me & my family; my sister-in-law's mother suffered a traumatic brain injury (TBI) in March of 2013, at age 56. She now suffers from aphasia, which means that while she is able to comprehend what others are saying, she is unable to verbally articulate her thoughts in response. She also has restricted mobility due to paralysis on the right side of her body. While she suffered a trauma, endured a recovery process, and lives with these lasting effects in her day-to-day, she is able to cope with these challenges due to the support of the resources and community provided by organizations like BIA-MA.

My goal is to raise awareness (in addition to funds!) about the widespread impact TBIs have on people worldwide so that BIA-MA can continue to help survivors and their families recover from these devastating injuries.
