Help Karen raise money

On August 21, I am running the Falmouth Road Race in tribute and celebration of my mom, Kathleen Mcgovern Kobacker, who passed away on February 5, 2022.  

My mom was the biggest breath of happy air that you could breathe in.  She was the loud laugh you could hear across the tennis court, the chit chat in the next pew at church, and the one you hoped to run into at the nail salon.   She was curious, kind and hilarious, and taught me the most invaluable phrase “what else?” 

These past few years have been an incredible mix of grief, loss, growth and empowerment for me.  I lost my mom, but I regained trust in myself.   I  was able to be completely present and most importantly, sober at the end of my mom’s life.  

By running this year, I will be fundraising for Wellstrong.  Wellstrong is a non profit organization who helped me recover from substance use disorder and also, where I work as a recovery and wellness coach.  

Wellstrong is a 501c nonprofit whose mission is to create safe, supportive communities of people in recovery from substance use disorder through mindfulness, wellness and meditation.  

I choose to recover out loud to help stop the stigma of addiction.

Third Step Prayer

God, I offer myself to Thee …
to build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt.
Relieve me of the bondage of self,
that I may better do Thy will.
Take away my difficulties,
that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help
of Thy Power, Thy Love, and Thy Way of life.
May I do Thy will always.
