My Story…
This year I will be running the Falmouth Road Race for the 7th time. This year's race is on August 21st.
You likely already know that I got involved with AU because it has been such an important part of my brother-in-law Brian Heffernan's life. AU offers high-quality, accessible recreational programs to individuals of all ages with disabilities. When COVID hit in 2020, AU immediately implemented virtual programming that ranged from zumba to trivia and everything in between. These programs provided much needed routine, stability, connection and joy to Brian and many others during a difficult time.
As normal programming has started to resume over the last few months, Brian has found the connections he had forged with fellow athletes, volunteers and staff to be stronger than ever. In addition to providing athletes with lifelong friendships, AU's programs help to foster the ongoing physical, social, emotional and intellectual development of countless individuals with disabilities.
