Help Stephanie raise money

I am running the 7.1 mile Falmouth Road Race again this summer in honor of my oldest son Elliot who will turn 17 in a couple weeks. 

This is without a doubt one of the best days of my summer. I run for Elliot's incredible school, The New England Center for Children where they work tirelessly to educate hundreds of kids like Elliot who have Autism Spectrum Disorder. 

Elliot became part of the NECC community when he was a tiny three year old having just survived an aggressive form of Infant Leukemia. David and I were at a loss as we watched his emerging language skills disappear and his behavior deteriorate. Although it was 14 years ago I remember the exact moment when the neuropsychologist told us he was sure it was autism. Fresh out of the horrors of the pediatric cancer world it seemed impossible to digest another devastating diagnosis.

NECC became and remains our lifeline as Elliot has made his way through their pre-school, the NECC Partner Classroom in our local school and at their residential school where he has been for the past five years. 

For Elliot the climb is slow and steady, whether it be adding a new word on his communication device or learning to pull his socks over his heels independently. As the tiny celebrations add up the staff at NECC do not relent, their sole mission being to help these kids achieve their maximum potential.
