My Story…
I am running the Falmouth Road Race this summer to raise money for Project Blue. Project Blue’s mission is to build trust and safety in inner city communities through youth programs that strengthen relationships between community and law enforcement and launch kids into successful futures. Watts 2 Boston proudly partners with Project Blue to help students of Watts, CA pursue educational opportunities that do not exist for them. I hope you will consider making a donation to Project Blue and support me as I run for these kid's to have a better life!
Description
Watts 2 Boston Foundation is a Boston-based organization that works with LAPD to support kids from Watts (South Central Los Angeles) by paying their high school tuition in LA and guiding them through the application process to attend a college in the Boston area. We currently have partnerships with Stonehill College, Northeastern, and Boston College. W2B is teaming up with Project Blue to support our younger scholars in LA by raising money to fund our Healthy Room Project. The idea of Healthy Rooms is to create an academic sanctuary to inspire strong work ethic, hope, and peace for our students who live in a challenging community. Most of the families in Watts cannot go outside due to the gang violence that occurs right outside their door.
With the money raised through the Falmouth Road Race, Project Blue will provide desks, bookcases, school supplies, and even beds for our students! Many of our scholars go without some basic needs to ensure a comfortable working environment to get school work completed. It can be a daily struggle and homework is the first thing to suffer, which can lead to poor study habits and failing grades. We want to give every student a chance to succeed!
I am excited to be participating in the 150th running of the 2022 Asics Falmouth Road Race for such an important cause. Project Blue helps to build trust and safety in inner-city communities through youth programs established and supported by law enforcement and community outreach. I know that each mile I run gives a child a better chance at a brighter future and I am thrilled to be a part of that.
Thank you for your donation!
