My Story…
Hi friends and family, and welcome to my fundraising page!!
As most of you are aware, our sweet Valerie was born with Myelomeningocele, the most severe form of Spina Bifida. After a problem area was spotted at our 20 week anatomy ultrasound, Kevin and I traveled to Boston as well as Philadelphia Children's Hospitals to get answers, her official diagnosis and then eventually a treatment plan. It was a very difficult and stressful time, especially as first time parents to-be. That summer as we approached Valerie's due date, we were put in touch with the Spina Bifida Association of Greater New England (affectionately known as SPAGNE) for the first time, in the form of the annual Walk-N-Roll/summer picnic day!! A day starting off with a walk (or roll for those individuals utilizing wheelchairs!) together, activities, food, and most importantly, a chance to meet other families like ours. Summer picnic is just one of the many events held by SPAGNE throughout the year, and for us served as the first opportunity to put a "face" on a medical diagnosis neither of us had ever met before. And let me tell you, we met some pretty cute little faces that day, who we are still in touch with 8 years later!!! 😀
I have decided to RUN in the 50th Falmouth Road Race (taking place in Falmouth, MA on Sunday August 21st) in an effort to bring awareness and raise funding for this amazing organization!!!
SPAGNE is a small but tight knit COMMUNITY that serves as a resource, advocate, and educator for individuals and their family members living with Spina Bifida. The support we have received from them and the friendships we have made with other families through them is something to be celebrated, and I want to help them continue their mission by supporting their fundraising goals! Would you join me in making a donation to help families and kiddos like my sweet Valerie?
Thank you for reading, thank you for your support, thank you for your prayers as I train and run to bring awareness to this cause, and THANK YOU for your financial contribution to this wonderful organization!!!!!!!
HERE WE GO! 😉
