Help Kyra raise money

Hi friends! I am so excited to be running my fourth Falmouth Road Race this year to raise money for Soccer Without Borders in East Boston.

Many of you know about this amazing organization by now, so thank you SO much for your continued support over the years! For those who are new to my page, Soccer Without Borders is a nonprofit organization that uses soccer as a vehicle for positive change, providing newcomer immigrant, refugee and asylee youth with a toolkit to overcome obstacles to growth, inclusion and personal success. Launched in 2012, the Boston chapter of SWB provides free, year-round, after-school programming to 300+ youth in East Boston. We even have kids who have moved out of the area come all the way to the field for practice, a true testament to the special community that SWB fosters.

I have been volunteering with SWB for four years, and I am currently an assistant coach for the middle school girls team. This year in particular has been really special-- our players have improved their soccer skills so much, ending the season in 2nd place in the league and with a trip to the playoffs! 

My favorite part of volunteering with SWB is watching the players' confidence grow both on and off the field. Whether it is watching a player get the courage to try a new position for the first time or hearing a quiet player speak up during the post-practice Shout-outs, every practice is a reminder of the power that sports can have in building self-esteem, bridging cultures, and forging life-long friendships.
