Help Brendan raise money

Hello everyone, I am running in the 2022 ASICS Falmouth Road Race this year for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Cystic Fibrosis is a progressive genetic disease which is caused by mutations in the CFTR gene that lead to a dysfunctional CFTR protein, and currently affects more than 30,000 people in the United States. These mutations lead to a buildup of thick and sticky mucus in many areas of the body such as the lungs, pancreas, and liver, which can result in bacterial infections, malnutrition, and even respiratory failure. When the CF Foundation was created there were no treatments for people with CF, but after many years of dedication by the CF community through fundraising and research, we now have many treatments for the disease and continue to improve the lives of those with CF.

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation holds a special place in my heart because I happen to have Cystic Fibrosis myself and have been battling this chronic disease for over 21 years. I'm fortunate enough to have the health where I can compete in a race such as the Falmouth Road Race, however this is not the case for much of the CF population. Many individuals with CF struggle day-to-day with managing their health, may require frequent hospital stays, and in more serious cases undergo lung transplants. From personal experience I can say that the progress made by the CF Foundation to help fund and support families and research alike, is the reason I am still here today fighting this disease.
