Help Lillie raise money

For participating in The 2022 ASICS Falmouth Road Race

My Story…

Hi! Thank you for finding your way to my fundraiser page today!

I'm ecstatic to share that this year, I am running the Falmouth Road Race for the very first time!  This not only excites me but scares me too!

I also have the pleasure to be running for the charity team for Gosnold Inc, a program that aids in the recovery of individuals with substance abuse disorder as well as mental health issues.  The non-profit has been a blessing in our community for 50 years this year and has saved countless lives.

Their programs haven't just helped strangers lives, they have also helped me in my recovery.  I have been sober from alcohol for a little over 3 months and will actually celebrate 4 months the day after the Road Race .  My first day in sobriety, I called Gosnold and they were able to schedule me for an outpatient class called SOAP that I could start the next week.  SOAP "structured" my Summer, keeping me engaged and learning 3 hours a day, 3 days a week.  At SOAP, I was allowed to engage with a group of individuals, also in sobriety of various lengths, but all under one year like me.  The two therapists who led the group, focused on one or two topics each class that enlightened us on things like relapse prevention, cognitive distortions, sleep hygiene, and various other areas.  I am grateful for this program for shedding light on why addiction happens, how to recognize it, and how to better our lives in sobriety.

Gosnold has been a huge part of my recovery and having just graduated their SOAP class, I can not recommend them enough, whether it be their in- or out-patient programs.

I will say, recovery is hard work and there have been a lot of other sources of strength for me on this journey so far.  I attend an amazing recovery gym in Falmouth, called Wellstrong, AA meetings, I have a sponsor, a wellness coach through Wellstrong, a therapist in recovery, a therapist through Gosnold, a recovery coach through Gosnold, a CSP worker through Gosnold, a case worker through the First Steps Together program (for parents in recovery), I attend ear acupuncture/meditation at Recovery Without Walls, and have been blessed with a huge recovery circle of peers in our beautiful Cape community.  All of these people have helped better my life, my families' lives and my communities' lives.  I have also been blessed with the opportunity of attending college in the Fall.  Recovery is possible for everyone but much easier if you have a circle of people who love and care about your well being.

Life does get better in recovery.  The program works if you work it.  One day at a time.  We do recover.  The slogans and sayings are there for a reason, they are true.

Thank you Gosnold, thank you to everyone in my circle, and thank you to everyone who has donated to this amazing charity!
