Help Marc raise money

For participating in The 2022 ASICS Falmouth Road Race

My Story…

I’m honored to be a part of the Hospitality Homes Falmouth Road race team for a second time.  For those of you who aren’t familiar with Hospitality Homes, we provide housing to families and patients who travel to Boston to seek care at one of our area’s leading medical institutions.  During each of the past two years, we have provided more nights of housing than ever before, at a time when hosting families has become more difficult as a result of the pandemic.  Please consider a tax-deductible donation to support the hard work being done by the Hospitality Homes team.

This year, I am running in honor of Jacquelyn, a recent guest of our program whose story I have included below.   Your support will help others like Jacquelyn make the trip to Boston for life-saving care.  I feel so incredibly lucky to live near some of the finest hospitals in the world and my involvement with Hospitality Homes allows me to share that privilege.

Thank you for your support.

Marc

Jacquelyn's Journey:

My name is Jacquelyn. I am 19 years old and from Utah. When I was two years old I was diagnosed with juvenile arthritis. It affects my ankles, knees, elbows, some fingers, and my left jaw. Despite my medical issues I tried my best to stay active and control my pain. However, there was one thing I couldn't control no matter how hard I tried. My jaw. Starting at age 9, I slowly began to lose mobility in my jaw. I still remember being 12 and sitting in my school cafeteria, crying because I could no longer fit my favorite foods into my mouth. It seems silly now but it was like the end of the world back then. When I was 16 I went to a Jaw specialist. He told me that my arthritis had somehow led to a fracture in my jaw, causing bleeding which turned into extra bone. I had a huge bony mass on my face and I didn't even know it. Good news, it could be fixed with surgery! Not so good news, no surgeon in Utah could do the surgery. We searched for over two years before finding a doctor in Boston who could help. We were so thankful to find someone, but had no idea how we were going to be able to pull it off. Finding hospitality homes was a godsend, and I am so thankful that there are kind and good people out there who put their effort into helping others. With your help I was able to get the medical help I dearly needed. I even cried in the recovery room from happiness. My mother, father, and I are so very grateful for your help and support. We wish you the best, thank you!

Description

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!

I'm so proud to be a member of TEAM HOSPITALITY HOMES in this year's Falmouth Road Race!

Your support means the world to me and will help continue to provide housing for patients and families traveling to Boston for critical medical treatment.

With the prohibitively expensive costs of local hotels- averaging $260 per night- and the lack of sufficient hospital- sponsored housing, many patients struggle with what to do, balancing these and other out-of-pocket expenses with the already high cost of responding to a complex or chronic illness.

Your donation is fully tax-deductible, as Hospitality Homes is a 501c3 non-profit organization.
