This holiday season we invite you to Spark Joy and Create Hope.
My granddaughter was diagnosed with a neuroblastoma and the prognosis was not good. They said had she not been so “old“ it would have been different. She was six. In what planet and what world is six old? Anyway she is a miracle baby. Although no longer so much “a baby” as “wow you rock girl”. This was last years walk.
I have been doing this run/walk for several years now, and last year Amelia as she nows prefers. (I think she outgrew Mia, except to her Bubbie …. ME!) Anyway last year she walked with me and we plan to do it again this year.
We went on Mia’s Make A Wish trip together with her mom just prior to COVID-19 and all I can say is that every Sick Child and their families deserve a trip like this. No matter what the condition Make A Wish makes everyone happy, included and a chance to just be a kid.
BUT these trips are costly so fundraising like this is Crucial. The NFL has “Crucial Catch” for Cancer and these kids trips through Make A Wish ARE EXTREMELY CRUICIAL. To watch a very young child struggle, perservere treatments, watch their parents, siblings and grandparents struggle helplessly on the sidelines…..WELL I hope you never need to find out!!!! I hope and pray for families with sick children and please hope and pray that no family needs to find out.
ENOUGH sad stuff….. I want to bring you up to date on my Mia. She loves to swim and has been on the neighbourhood swim team in the summer as it’s an outdoor pool. She has worked so hard at her dance that she is now able to dance 5 nights a week and go to school, real school finally, and this year she made the Competition Dance Team.
I told you she rocks. Follow us for photos…… and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
Description
I'm raising funds to help grant life-changing wishes for Make-A-Wish Canada through my participation in the HoHoHoliday 5K 2022!
The holidays remind us of the magic of what it is to be a child. Reconnecting with loved ones and celebrating traditions brings us joy. But for children with critical illnesses, hospital stays away from family, difficult treatments and uncertainties don't stop, even over the holidays.
Help make wishes come true this holiday season.
