Help Serena raise money

For participating in 2022 WHEELS

My Story…

I work as the Social Worker for the place that fills my heart up, The Darling Home for Kids. Many parents have told me that they were warned by doctors that their child would not survive past infancy. Now, they have beaten the odds and we want to help them make the most day of each day they have with us. Help us create a world where no child is too complex to receive the love, care, and support they deserve!

Our event goal is to ride over 70 000kms in support of the over 70 000 children in Ontario who are classified as medically complex. For the past few years, I have participated in the 25km ride. This year I will doubling down and taking on the 50km ride. As the rate of medically complex children increases, so do my kilometres!

Join me in supporting the brave and loveable children and families who I have the joy of working alongside. Give a little or give a lot, every - every amount makes a difference!

Description

As The Darling Home for Kids works to reintegrate families into their respite and palliative services and offer both in-person and virtual Family Support programs to meet the increasing mental health needs of families that access their programs, they will also be maintaining crisis services and beds available to those who may need them at a moment’s notice. Many new families have been waiting for services for more than two years, and DHK is eager to provide them with the help they need and have been desperately waiting for.

Today, I’m asking for your help.

Your donation is a gift for today, and an investment in the future, for children with complex medical needs and their families. Proceeds from Wheels 2022 presented by Mattamy Homes, will help to support our core programs and services. With your help, we can provide each child with the best care possible.  Your funds could provide:

  • $30 – a monthly subscription for our kids to enjoy their favourite shows
  • $50 – a Family Support session, like Siblings or Parents Connect
  • $100 – Music, arts, and craft supplies – for our therapy programs
  • $200 – an outing for our residents
  • $500 – technology to help our kids attend virtual medical appointments and avoid travel to the hospital
  • $1,000 operational costs associated with a weekend of respite care
  • $2,500 – an inclusive event for all of our families at DHK
