My Story…
Last year I ran the RVM 8K race shortly after I received my first chemotherapy treatment for breast cancer. I also had my hair buzz cut. I placed 4th in my age group and it was the best feeling I've had in years. Just to know that I could get out there and participate in a race, both with a cancer diagnosis and during COVID was fabulous.
A breast cancer diagnosis is not the best feeling, nor is it the end. You can fight it. You can keep on running. Keep on moving. Stay positive. I did and I'm still feeling good, well, most of the time: the chemotherapy can sometimes be hard on you, but it will end and you will be back to your old self - so I'm told by so many of my friends who have survived and thrived after their treatments.
The BC Cancer Agency offers some of the best cancer treatments in the world. Through the BC Cancer Foundation, the research continues to find new and better ways to treat cancer of all kinds. Please help keep this going and let's help defeat this cancer scourge.
