One Step at a Time
I have been walking in Steps for Kids since its launch more than a decade ago. This year, the need is even greater. While the pandemic significantly raised awareness of mental health and the need for services, pandemic-related surges have doubled demand for some of our child/youth mental health programs.
We are very proud of our staff who despite the risks of COVID-19, continued to support children, youth, and families at our Children's Mental Health Centre, youth shelter, and in their homes. They know there is no substitute for face-to-face support when kids are struggling with their mental health.
Sadly, this is not a short-term problem. The Mental Health Commission of Canada is warning mental health agencies to expect “delayed, complex and long-term post-pandemic mental health impacts” from the pandemic.
Your support will go a long way to helping kids who are really struggling and will continue to even as public health measures ease.
Thank you for being a part of the solution.
