Access is key!
Many of us have the privilege to not think of access often, but access determines everything: where you go to school, where you live, what job you pursue, and what community of people you join. And unfortunately, the world is not always accessible to people who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing and DeafBlind.
CSDHH is raising money through The Human Race to support our Evans-Melton Access Fund, which was established in 2018 to help make sure that communication is still accessible even in settings where the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) does not cover. For example, one of the largest events the Evans-Melton Access Fund has supported is the NC Folk Festival.
After so long of virtual-only events, we’re thrilled to get back to the Human Race in person! Please donate to our Human Race team to help us build the Evans-Melton Access Fund. We would also love to have you join our team to walk or run, and please also spread the word!
