My Story…

I have suffered from migraines for as long as I can remember. They started when I was around 12 years old and have never stopped. About 7 years ago, they became intractable, meaning that I have constant pain 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I have tried every natural remedy, prescription and treatment that was available. I was finally told that I was out of my local neurologists comfort zone and he referred me to Brigham & Women’s Headache Center. That’s where I became a patient of Dr Rizzoli. He didn’t promise to cure me because we all know that we aren’t there yet but he did listen. He referred me to Dr Ross in pain management. He agreed with Dr Rizzoli that I was a good candidate for a nerve stimulator implant. Again, no miracles were promised or expected but there was the potential for some improvement in my quality of life. Any improvement was worth the try in my mind. I’m still intractable but my pain level is much lower.
