For participating in Miles for Migraine - Philadelphia 2022

Our story…

Thank You for considering this event! I have suffered with migraines for 171/2 years, since I was in 7th grade. Of course, at the time they began, I had no idea what they were. By 10th or 11th grade I knew I suffered from migraines, but treatment was not very helpful. I even ended up in the ER hooked up to IV's on occasion as the migraines could become too intense to function. Unfortunately, it took years to find a neurologist who not only specialized in migraines and similar issues, but who I also felt comfortable with - someone who actually made me feel heard and tried to help. However, whenever I thought I could have my migraines under control, they seemed to evolve. It took even more years for me learn there are many different symptoms, signs, locations, and triggers for migraines. Also, you may have some of these while another sufferer has a completely different set. Even after all these years, I am sure I still don't know all I could. I need to learn more.
A big detriment to my goals is that migraines have impacted every aspect of my life and make me feel trapped in my own bodyThere are times I can not even lift my arms - I experience pain and discomfort from light or sounds, my limbs become weak, tingling or numb, I become unbalanced or dizzy, my face goes numb - among many other possible symptoms. Now that Isabella {my daughter} has come along, I have a resurgence of fight in me - I need to stop settling for getting by and increase my quality of life, for me & to be better for her 💝 I hope you will come support us in this long journey 🥰
