I wonder a lot about a lot of things. Wonder is a great way to consider life and to ponder how to make the most out of what we have. One of the things that I wonder the most about are headaches, and migraines in particular. I wonder why so many many people suffer from them. I wonder why they can be so debilitating. I wonder what we can do to bring about a better quality of life for those of us who suffer from them. Furthermore, I wonder how PTSD and other mental health conditions affect people's migraine intensity or cycles. I also wonder if childhood trauma has any part in any of it. Basically, I spend a lot of time wondering about headaches and migraines.

I'm a wife, a mom, an Oma, a pastor, and a friend. I also am a child abuse survivor, someone with PTSD and one who suffers from various mental health conditions. On top of all of that, or maybe because of all of that, very few days go by that I don't have some sort of headache or migraine -- a good many of them are almost debilitating. I'm blessed with an amazing care team that work diligently to help me keep living the best possible life - Dr. Wells, Laura Granetzke, Dr. Strickland, Dr. Catherine Green, Dr. Lintner, Debbie Morton, and Bryan Hatcher. 

In addition to my wondering and pondering I'm passionate about many things (among them knitting) and one of the reasons I've chosen to create a team for Miles For Migraines is because headache and migraine research is one of the ways many peoples lives, mine and my families included, can be enriched and enhanced.  One of the lines in my favorite song is "you can do this hard thing" by Carrie Newcomer. I believe wholeheartedly that together, we can do the hard thing of lessening the grip and pain that headaches and migraines has on so many.
