My Story…
Hello! My name is Junelyn Floyd and I am a Program Manager with the Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Headache Medicine Program. I am so excited to be supporting, participating in, and fundraising for Miles for Migraines this year not only because it is my area of research and work interest, but also because of my personal and family history with migraines.
Migraine is the world’s second leading cause of disability; half of the 45 million Americans with migraine require bedrest for relief. My mom and I are unfortunately members of that group. I have trouble expressing the pain and frustration I have experienced in my hundreds of cumulative days battling migraine attacks and working to find doctors who can help me with my migraines. Migraines can be truly disabling, and many people feel that they have to suffer alone or in silence.
This is why I am so excited about Miles for Migraines: this is our opportunity to remove any stigma associated with migraine, connect with other people battling and coping with this disease, and fundraise for innovative new treatment and coping strategies.
Thank you for running this race with me, and please consider donating if you or someone you love has been affected by migraines!
I truly appreciate your support.
