Hi Supporters! 

2 years ago I was diagnosed with endometriosis and let me say it is an awful disease. The symptoms are debilitating and have a huge impact on your physical and mental health. Although I was diagnosed two years ago, my journey started 7 years ago and three surgeries later. 

After my first surgery that confirmed I had endometriosis, I was so relieved that all the symptoms I had been experiencing were not just "in my head" and I finally had a diagnosis that explained my pain.

 Unfortunately, my endometriosis pain returned a few months after my surgery and I was admitted to the hospital in July 2021 where I went through invasive testing to rule out every possible condition aside from endometriosis. I was told that endometriosis does not recur that quickly and that doctors believed it was something much more serious than endo. I was sent home with some painkillers and told to follow up with my gynecologist. It was crazy to me that I had confirmed endo and that endo was immediately dismissed as a possible reason for my symptoms and test results when I went to the ER for severe pelvic pain. 

Fortunately, I have an amazing surgeon who was able to get me in for surgery that September after she had discovered I was admitted to the hospital. The surgery was complex with a complication that required a stent in my right ureter. My recovery was very challenging but I am on the mend! 

I was very lucky to be treated by a surgeon who believed my pain was real and took my endometriosis seriously. I know that not everyone is as lucky as me to get access to treatment and educated doctors who know how to manage endo. My goal is to help in any way I can to allow for a change! There is much change needed for the awareness, education, treatment, and access to care for endo. Your donation means the world to me and I thank you for your support!
