My Story…
I experienced my first migraine attack in my teenage years. I remember laying in bed in the dark, the room spinning, and the intense pain that had my clutching my head and sobbing. Since then there have been times I've literally had to be carried off the bathroom floor because I can't even safely walk from the pain. And yet, despite the fact that my story isn't unique and that migraine is the 2nd leading cause of global disability, there is still so much stigma surrounding migraine and headache disorders and funding for research and equitable disability policies have remained out of reach for migraine patients.
In November 2021, I was honored to be chosen as the Executive Director of the Alliance for Headache Disorders Advocacy, an organization that works tirelessly to achieve equity in policy for those with headache and migraine disorders. Our annual Headache on the Hill event brings together hundreds of patients, medical professionals, researchers and caregivers from all over the country to speak truth to power. Our advocates have made real gains but we know we have so much more work to do.
Your support will help us raise the funds we need to continue to grow our reach and give a voice to the millions of people impacted by these disorders. Thank you for your generosity and support!
