My Story…
For my 40th birthday, I decided to run my first marathon. As part of my run, I selected raising money for the Shalem Mental Health Network. I am a long standing advocate for ending the stigma around mental health and give annually to multiple mental health organizations. At the time though, I did not know the heartbreaking significance that this run would become.
In October, my beloved niece left us, after silently battling mental health issues. I would give anything to have her back. In her honour, I am asking to help end the stigma. It’s okay to be not okay. It’s okay to need professional help. And for those struggling in silence, please wave a flag (no matter how small) so we know to get you support. You are loved. You matter. My niece, Jaqui was love and wanted us all to find light everyday. Let her shine.
